Orthosis for partial immobilization of the saddle joint

Some professions can lead to long-term stress on the saddle joint, which causes its trauma and chronic inflammation. Falls during sports activities, such as skiing, can cause injuries to the metacarpal-phalangeal joint, known as the “skier’s finger.”

This orthosis limits movement in the saddle joint, reducing inflammation and pain. It also promotes faster recovery after injuries and surgical interventions. The use of Ortonia RhizoFix in osteoarthritis helps to reduce chronic inflammation, relieve pain and restore the mobility of the thumb.

The orthosis has a rigid splint integrated into the structure, which, in combination with a soft base, forms a strong frame on the big toe. This limits movements in the saddle-shaped and adjacent metacarpal-phalangeal joint, while leaving the joint between the phalanges of the thumb, as well as the other fingers of the hand, mobile. The orthosis is fixed with the help of two circular fasteners with “Velcro” on the wrist and thumb.
